Halloween is always a special time for horror fans as the nights grow longer and the spirits of the day come home to warm themselves by the fireside.

So to keep you busy on the cold nights ahead, here’s 31 films to get you ready for the #HalloweenSeason

  1. Halloween (1978) – Fifteen years after murdering his sister on Halloween night 1963, Michael Myers escapes from a mental hospital and returns to the small town of Haddonfield, Illinois to kill again.
  2. The Barn (2016) – Its Halloween 1989, best friends Sam and Josh are trying to enjoy what’s left of their final Devil’s Night before graduating high school. But trouble arises when the two pals and a group of friends take a detour on their way to a rock concert, finding an old abandoned barn and awakening the evil inside. Now it’s up to Sam and Josh to find a way to protect their friends and defeat the creatures that lurk within “The Barn”
  3. 31 (2016) – Five carnival workers are kidnapped and held hostage in an abandoned, hellish compound where they are forced to participate in a violent game, the goal of which is to survive twelve hours against a gang of sadistic clowns.
  4. All Hallows Eve (2013) – A babysitter finds a VHS tape which features various sinister murders performed by a psychotic clown.
  5. The Guest (2014) – A soldier introduces himself to the Peterson family, claiming to be a friend of their son who died in action. After the young man is welcomed into their home, a series of accidental deaths seem to be connected to his presence.
  6. Hellbent (2004) – Halloween in West Hollywood, two guys making out in a park are interrupted by a serial killer. Later that night, a group of gay kids decide to visit to the site of the murders.
  7. Trick ‘R Treat (2007) – Five interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: An everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the guy for her; a group of teenagers pulls a mean prank; a woman who loathes the night has to contend with her holiday-obsessed husband; and a mean old man meets his match with a demonic, supernatural trick-or-treater.
  8. Creepshow (1982) – An anthology that tells five terrifying tales based on the E.C. horror comic books of the 1950s.
  9. Tales of Halloween (2015) – Ten stories are woven together by their shared theme of Halloween night in an American suburb, where ghouls, imps, aliens and axe murderers appear for one night only to terrorize unsuspecting residents.
  10. The Houses October Built (2014) – Five friends are stalked by a group of mysterious and disturbed individuals while on a road trip looking for the ultimate haunted house attraction.
  11. Satan’s Little Helper (2004) – A naive young boy unknowingly becomes the pawn of a serial killer.
  12. Hell Fest (2018) – A masked serial killer turns a horror-themed amusement park into his own personal playground, terrorizing a group of friends while the rest of the patrons believe that it is all part of the show.
  13. House of 1000 Corpses (2003) – Two young couples traveling across the backwoods of Texas searching for urban legends of murder end up as prisoners of a bizarre and sadistic backwater family of serial killers.
  14. 10/31 (2017) – This is an anthology film consisting of 5 horror tales from 5 different writers.
  15. Trick or Treat (1986) – A bullied teenage boy is devastated after the death of his heavy metal idol, Sammi Curr. But as Hallowe’en night approaches, he discovers that he may be the only one who can stop Sammi from making a Satanic comeback from beyond the grave.
  16. Ginger Snaps (2000) – Two death-obsessed sisters, outcasts in their suburban neighborhood, must deal with the tragic consequences when one of them is bitten by a deadly werewolf.
  17. Terrifier (2017) – A maniacal clown terrorizes three young women on Halloween night and everyone else who stands in his way.
  18. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019) – A group of teens face their fears in order to save their lives.
  19. Volumes of Blood (2015) – A new horror anthology from Verite Cinema and the creators of the Unscripted Film School. Five tales of dread from five independent horror directors.
  20. Night of the Demons (1988) – Ten teenagers party at an abandoned funeral parlor on Halloween night. When an evil force awakens, demonic spirits keep them from leaving and turn their gathering into a living Hell.
  21. The Addams Family (1991) – Con artists plan to fleece an eccentric family using an accomplice who claims to be their long-lost uncle.
  22. Hocus Pocus (1993) – A curious youngster moves to Salem, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches that were executed in the 17th century.
  23. Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) – In a small American town, a diabolical circus and its demonic proprietor prey on the townsfolk.
  24. Dark Night of the Scarecrow (1981) – In a small Southern town, a wrongfully-killed man exacts revenge on those who murdered him from beyond the grave.
  25. Haunt (2019) – On Halloween, a group of friends encounter an “extreme” haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real.
  26. Sleepy Hollow (1999) – Ichabod Crane is sent to Sleepy Hollow to investigate the decapitations of three people, with the culprit being the legendary apparition, The Headless Horseman.
  27. The Changeling (1980) – A man staying at a secluded historical mansion finds himself being haunted by the presence of a spectre.
  28. The Amityville Horror (1979) – Newlyweds move into a large house where a mass murder was committed, and experience strange manifestations which drive them away.
  29. The Exorcist (1973) – When a teenage girl is possessed by a mysterious entity, her mother seeks the help of two priests to save her daughter.
  30. The Midnight Hour (1985) – Phil, Melissa, Mitch, Mary, and Vinnie are high school friends, who unwittingly raise the dead on Halloween night. Once the dead have returned, Pitchford Cove will never be the same again….or will it?
  31. We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011) – Kevin’s mother struggles to love her strange child, despite the increasingly dangerous things he says and does as he grows up. But Kevin is just getting started, and his final act will be beyond anything anyone imagined
