Bryan James to Write, Direct and Star Opposite Emmy-winning Actor Max Ehrich in ‘The Kindred’

Four-time Emmy nominee Max Ehrich (The Young and the Restless, The Bay) and Bryan James (Youthful Daze, General Hospital) are set to star in The Kindred, an original vampire film written and directed by James. Developed by James’ Day One Productions, which is also attached to produce and distribute, the film is scheduled to begin production in Los Angeles in late November, with a 2027 release targeted.

The Kindred follows Alarac (Ehrich), a 348-year-old vampire who transforms an unassuming human, Draven (James), into one of his own kind. Their journey explores human impulses, the complexities of immortality, and the struggles and triumphs of eternal life.

Ehrich and James have been collaborating on the concept, developing their own take on vampire mythology.

“The Kindred is an original vampire story created and developed by Day One Productions,” says James. “Max Ehrich and I have been shaping this concept for some time, collaborating both behind the camera and on screen. We’re excited to bring our own vision to the vampire genre.”

“What draws me to Alarac is the humanity that remains after 348 years of immortality,” says Ehrich. “There’s so much to explore in a character who has lived through centuries but still wrestles with desire, connection and what it means to be alive. Developing this story with Bryan has been an exciting creative collaboration.”

Day One Productions has been developing and distributing original content since 2012.
