Vernon Wells joins Witchcraft: The Lanterne Of Light as exec producer

Vernon Wells joins an already impressive cast of Hollywood and horror icons in the next chapter of the Witchcraft franchise.

The veteran actor, best known for his iconic roles in The Road Warrior, Commando, and Weird Science, is joining Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light as an Executive Producer and part of the cast.

For fans of action, science fiction, and genre cinema, Wells needs little introduction. His career spans decades and includes some of the most recognizable films and characters in Hollywood history.

Wells first made a major international impression as Wez in The Road Warrior (1981), the iconic post-apocalyptic classic starring Mel Gibson. He followed that unforgettable performance with one of his most recognizable roles, Bennett in Commando (1985), opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger.

His impressive filmography also includes Weird Science (1985) and Innerspace (1987), while a later generation of fans knows him as Ransik from Power Rangers Time Force.

Now Wells is bringing that legendary genre experience to Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light.

Vernon Wells joins a growing cast that already features some major names from Hollywood and the horror world.

Eric Roberts, the Oscar-nominated actor known for Runaway Train, The Dark Knight, The Expendables and Babylon, joins the film as Professor Churchill.

Lisa Wilcox, beloved by horror fans for her iconic role as Alice Johnson in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, stars as Detective Garner.

The cast also features Sandy Johnson, who horror fans will remember as Judith Myers, Michael Myers’ older sister, in John Carpenter’s original Halloween (1978).

Also joining the cast are Kato Kaelin, Andrew Pierson, Kristina Lafser, and other members of the growing ensemble.

Together, the cast represents an exciting combination of Hollywood veterans, horror icons, and emerging talent, bringing decades of genre experience into a brand-new Witchcraft story.

Directed by Carissa Pierson, Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light takes the long-running franchise into darker and more atmospheric territory.

The story follows a paranormal investigation team as they uncover the terrifying secrets of The Children of the Hollow, a centuries-old cult connected to the ancient manuscript known as The Lanterne of Light.

Director Carissa Pierson says bringing Wells aboard is a major moment for the production:

“Having Vernon Wells join Witchcraft: The Lanterne of Light is incredibly exciting. He is an absolute legend whose work has inspired generations of film fans, and having him not only join our cast but also come aboard as an Executive Producer is an incredible honor. Vernon brings a tremendous amount of experience, presence, and passion to the project, and I truly believe audiences are going to love what he brings to the Witchcraft universe.”

For Wells, joining The Lanterne of Light adds another genre chapter to a career that has already taken him from the Australian wasteland of The Road Warrior to the action-packed world of Commando and the wild comedy of Weird Science.

Now, he joins Eric Roberts, Lisa Wilcox, Sandy Johnson, Kato Kaelin, Andrew Pierson, Kristina Lafser, and the rest of the cast as the Witchcraft franchise moves into its next chapter.

Principal photography is slated for October 2026 in North Carolina, with a 2027 release planned.
