The Dead And SudBuried Horror Film Festival returns to the sleepy market town of Sudbury, Suffolk for its 10th Anniversary edition, expanding to four days and welcoming movies from all over the world, celebrating new and classic horror movies! The terrifying event returns over from Thursday 22nd October to 25th October with another horror packed schedule featuring 11 brand new festival circuit features, 11 classic movies and 22 new horror shorts alongside Director/Cast Q&A’s, food trucks, merchandise and much more over four long, scary days.
The Dead And SudBuried Horrorthon began life in 2016 in Suffolk in the small market town of Sudbury as a celebration of classic horror movies, screening seven classics over a single day in the intimate venue of The Quay Theatre. Since these auspicious beginnings, it has returned each year, building on success and growing each year until 2021, when the fifth event expanded to two days, adding brand new festival features including UK premieres, horror shorts from around the world, live director/cast Q&A’s, merchandise and bringing in a bigger audience of attendees from all over the UK. The sixth event saw growth to 3 days and a sold-out theatre with this year’s tenth anniversary edition expanding further to 4 days, guaranteed to bring in more movies, more guests and more scares throughout the weekend.
The brand new features are made up of Sci-Fi monster time-loop creature feature Dead Reset, the New Zealand comedy Mum, I’m Alien Pregnant, modern day re-interpretation of the classic vampire tale with a 70’s sheen Dracula: The Night Around Us, sinister psychological chiller The Death Of Us, a journey of unrelenting terror into the deep south in the shape of BoxCutter, the claustrophobic and creepy Hoarder, the spiders on the loose and soon to be released theatrically Crawlers, gory slasher Fresh Meat, Suffolk based folk horror wowing festivals all over the world The Peril At Pincer Point, found footage/vlogger style Heraldry Paranormal and the amazing French comedy thriller Flush. Director/cast Q&A’s are planned after the screening for a number of shorts and features across the weekend.
The classic horror movies were selected over the Summer through online voting and this year feature the 80’s small town chiller Dead & Buried, which inspired the name of the event, Spanish gothic mystery The House That Screamed, Norman Bates triumphant return in Psycho II, the original child from hell movie Rosemary’s Baby, Hammer’s Oliver Reed starring Curse Of The Werewolf, Sam Raimi’s gypsy curse, frenetic Drag Me To Hell, the dark satire on class structure by way of slimy body horror Society, imagination prevails in the low budget The Deadly Spawn, zombies rising from the sewers in CHUD, the ridiculous but bloody monsters on the loose Slugs and the influential, unstoppable, unfairly banned in the 80’s original cabin in the woods classic The Evil Dead.
The line-up is completed as always with 22 stunning horror shorts from all over the world, each playing with one of the features. In addition to movies, there will be horror memorabilia on sale, giveaways, local discounts with retailers and restaurants, food trucks, a fully licensed bar and more surprises planned throughout the weekend.

But here we are 10 years on, Dead and SudBuried continues to grow and build a reputation for showing great movies and what started as a simple goal to bring horror movies to our small town has exploded into an incredible monster screening some amazing new movies and welcoming filmmakers from across the world. We’re so proud to have an event of this scale in Sudbury and it’s fantastic to become a respected part of the horror festival calendar. The event has sold out for the last three years and we’re anticipating another bumper year to celebrate a decade of Dead And SudBuried!”
