Macho Carne review

Macho Carne aka Man in the Flesh is not for the squeamish.

The opening shot sees a man looking to fondle multiple partners before being force-fed what looks like a glass full of sperm. From here you kind of know you are in for a wild ride.

This bizarre short feels like it is designed to make you feel uncomfortable in parts, from its avant-grade filming to its body horror.

Filmmaker George Pedrosa’s unabashedly queer film gets up close and personal and lingers on those shots.

What is the film about? To be honest I’m not quite sure and I think the idea is for the audience to make their own minds up on that front.

The sound design here is incredible flitting from a haunting score to cues that are alarming, especially given the explicit content on show.

Give Macho Carne a shot and make up your mind about its narrative and messages.

Macho Carne played as part of the Soho Horror Film Festival: Pride Edition 2022.
