The first look at the returning Sally Hardesty (now played by Olwen Fouere) has been revealed for the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre, set to debut on Netflix on 18th February 2022.
While publicity for the film has been fairly low key, outside of a handful of promotional images and a (quite impressive) teaser trailer.
We have yet to fully see the ‘old man’ Leatherface in this direct sequel to the 1973 film, but here we Sally, potentially looking at the image taken of her and her friends on that fateful day nearly 50 years ago by the hitchhiker.
Here is the synopsis for Texas Chainsaw Massacre –
“Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents — including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.”
So it seems Sally is being painted as a Laurie Strode-esque character, looking to gain vengeance against Leatherface for the horrors of 1973.
With the release just over a month away, don’t bet against a first look at Leatherface very soon.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre hits Netflix on 18th February 2022.
