Benny Loves You review

Benny Loves You is the labour of love from UK filmmaker Karl Holt, which took 4 years to put together on a shoestring budget.

With a unique mix of gallons of blood and razor sharp dark humour, this feature is as funny as it is oddly heartwarming at times.

Jack is desperately trying for a new start in life, but when he throws away his childhood bear Benny, it’s a move that can only end in death.

Taking the ideas explored in the Chucky movies and twisting them into a more grounded tale, we follow Jack an unfortunate character who hasn’t moved on from his childhood and it could cost him everything.

Holt is endearing as Jack but its the comedic turns of the smarmy Richard (George Collie) and boss Ron (James Parsons) who steal the show, well besides Benny of course.

Our titular teddy is equally blood thirsty but also undeniably cute, at some points within the same scenes.

Benny Loves You is a triumph with so much heart and ingenuity, which completely doubles down on its absurd premise and is all the better for it.

Seek it out.
