Celluloid Screams Horror Film Festival has been confirmed to take place at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield between 22nd and 25th October 2020.

The following statement was posted on their Facebook page –

The health and safety of our audience is our top priority and we will be operating in line with a range of safety measures that are being introduced as part of the Showroom Cinema’s reopening. This is likely to include social distancing measures in cinema screens, enhanced cleaning processes and reduced screen capacities, along with other changes to ensure a safe and enjoyable cinema experience.

For obvious reasons, the 2020 edition of Celluloid Screams was always going to be different from previous years and we will be implementing a number of changes to make this year’s event possible, including:

  • Festival passes only (no individual tickets available for 2020)
  • Reduced capacities – To comply with social distancing regulations, fewer passes will be available, but this year’s festival will operate in screens 3 and 4 simultaneously to maximise the number of passes we can offer.
  • Longer breaks between films to allow for enhanced cleaning processes.
  • A dedicated festival hub to allow safe socialising between films – we know that the social aspect of Celluloid Screams is very important, so we will be creating a dedicated space to eat, drink and socialise in a safe and relaxed manner.

We plan to proceed with a physical festival this year as long as it is safe and feasible to do so, in line with government guidance. In the event that government restrictions on the leisure industry are re-introduced or increased, we will need to revise our plans accordingly.

We hope this offers some clarity on our plans for Celluloid Screams 2020. Stay tuned for further important announcements on passes, on-sale dates and, of course, our 2020 programme. While this year has been unlike any in our 12-year history, our programming team have continued to work tirelessly to find the best new films the horror genre has to offer and we can’t wait to share them with you.
