Kill River by Cameron Roubique review

Given that the slasher horror boom of the early 80s seemingly gave us every kind of killer imaginable; it’s strange a creepy water park movie never saw the light of day.

Well Cameron Roubique’s Kill River will fill that void and have you yearning for a film adaptation.

Centering around loner Cyndi, who is sent to summer camp to make new friends and is shocked to befriend Stacy, Brad and Zach.

What Roubique does well is invest a lot of time into this foursome so when they attempt to escape camp but only find an abandoned water park, the tension is pretty intense.

As well as crafting some entertaining action scenes the writer also leaves some plot threads wide open, making us crave answers.

Kill River’s killer is also a force to be reckoned with, with hints of classic monsters Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers.

It’s slightly longer than it should be but the character investment makes the pay offs all the more gut wrenching.

Kill River 2 has recently been released and on this evidence it has big shoes to fill.

One of the best horror reads of the year so far.

Kill River is now available on Amazon Kindle.
