First artwork for a documentary focussing on the most controversial part of the Friday the 13th franchise has been released.
The Dark Heart of Jason Voorhees: The Making of the Final Friday will focus on part 9 of the series, Jason Goes to Hell.
This was the first film under the New Line Cinema banner, released 4 years after Jason Takes Manhattan had seemingly finished the series off. But with momentum slowly gathering behind the scenes for Freddy vs Jason, first time Director Adam Marcus took the series to strange and new places.
The main complaint over the years for this chapter has been the seeming lack of Jason in the film, after he was blown to pieces in the opening scene.
Jason Goes to Hell was the first film to tease Freddy vs Jason, with Krueger’s glove infamously grabbing Voorhees’ hockey mask in the final reel to tease an upcoming showdown, that would take another 20 years to get made.
This documentary will bring the key players of the film together, including Marcus to discuss making the film, and its legacy now 25 years after it was released.
The Dark Heart of Jason Voorhees: Making the Final Friday is directed by Nick Hunt (Safe Place) and will be released later this year.
