James Secker’s Best Horror of 2017

The Summoner premiere

Last year was a whirlwind for indie filmmaker James Secker as his short The Summoner hit the festival circuit, including The Dead of Night Film Festival.

Here’s James Top 5 horrors of 2017

dead shack 5
Dead Shack
A fun little movie that packs alot of laughs and gore into its generous runtime. Great with an audience. Wonderful.
The terrific director Ryuhei Kitamura (Midnight Meat Train) utilizes a simple premise and delivers in spades. A brutal film that does not hold back.
Bill Skarsgård is phenomenal as Pennywise and Director Andrés Muschietti doesn’t just create one of the best horror films of the year, he creates one of the best Stephen King adaptations ever made. Loved it.
Get Out
Jordan Peele brings us one of the most talked about films of the year. Tackling social issues and delivering humour can be tough, but he pulled it off. Everyone from the crew to the cast bring their A game. If you haven’t seen it yet… you should.
Super Dark Times
Intense, beautiful and haunting. I can’t recommend it enough. A thrilling debut.
Honourable Mentions: Better Watch Out, Tragedy Girls, The Babysitter, Happy Death Day, My Friend Dahmer, Mayhem.
