We seem to have Halloween and Christmas horror anthologies coming out quite regularly now, but ones that focus on different (shall we say), less popular aspects of the genre are dime a dozen.
Enter Dan Coxon and Philip Fracassi, who have put together this stellar collection of horror focused different cultures, whether it’s the catacombs of France or other parts of the world; this collection puts some unique spins on some established and breaks new ground to give us original stories.
While we shouldn’t play favourites, I found Unearthed far more consistent in quality that the recent All Hallows Eve collection from Titan Books.
Coxon and Fracassi have teamed up with a stellar list of authors including Christopher Golden, Tim Lebbon, Eric LaRocca, Jonathan Maberry, V. Castro and so many more.
So whether you are looking for stories about Brazilian giants, creepy catacombs, giant arachnids or Sherlock Holmes style adventures mixed with vampires, Irish underground pyramids; there’s plenty for everyone.
Unearthed: New Horrors of Ancient Ruins edited by Dan Coxon and Philip Fracassi, is available now in various formats from Titan Books.
