Multi-award winning short Bloodbuzz is set to screen at the Sunrise Film Festival, between 20-23 August 2026.
Smart but naïve teenager Lianna is stumbling, dehydrated and lost in the sweltering Suffolk countryside, when she happens upon Greg, an isolated farmer.
After collapsing in exhaustion, she wakes up in his house – with her shoes off, and the sun down. As the night grows darker, she desperately tries to convince Greg that humanity is on the brink of being overrun by body-snatching mosquitoes — mutated by climate change into vampiric “mosquitozoids” that hijack the human brain.
But when her calm and condescending stepbrother Kyle arrives, he casts doubt on everything, revealing Lianna’s history of ‘episodes’ and obsession with extreme conspiracy theories. As reality starts to fracture, the question remains: is Lianna delusional — or the only one who sees the truth?
The final act explodes into grotesque violence and unexpected camaraderie, as Lianna and the grizzled Greg are forced to unite and fight for survival.
