Borrowing from the classic slasher tropes but turning the heat up, Blood + Black Leather might be one of the first erotic queer slasher books.
Author Bryan Michael Ellis is just as concerned with bloodshed as the active sex lives of our group of unfortunate young men who run afoul of a killer known as Leather Daddy.
This is a killer who is less Michael Myers and more Art the Clown with his brutality and kink for assaulting his victims post-mortem.
We follow Everett, a young dancer, who becomes the obsession of Leather Daddy during Pride Week in the extremely liberal town of Mourning Hollow.
It does seem like every character in this story is queer, which, while refreshing in terms of offering different perspectives, is a tad unrealistic, but this is fiction so we can forgive a few faux pas.
The group of boys, at times, even use lines directly from Halloween, but are likeable enough, and for those enjoying some kink after the success of Heated Rivalry, this could be your horror fix.
Ellis does well to maintain the mystery of Leather Daddy until the blood-soaked conclusion, making this an effective, erotic and extremely gory slasher.
Blood + Black Leather by Bryan Michael Ellis is available now in various formats.
