Evil Dead 2013 set for 4K release

STUDIOCANAL presents Fede Álvarez’s smash hit 2013 standalone horror sequel EVIL DEAD – starring Jane Levy and Shiloh Fernandez. The film makes its UK UHD debut on 19th October, with a 2-disc Collector’s Edition featuring a 4K restoration, blood-curdling new artwork by Krishna Bala Shenoi, the Theatrical and Unrated cuts of the film, a host of extras and a 64-page booklet. The release includes an O-ring with all the tech spec, allowing the beautifully designed slipcase beneath to be clean.

Mia, a recovering drug addict, asks her brother and their friends to accompany her to a remote forest cabin to help her through withdrawal. When one of her friends, Eric, finds a Book of the Dead and reads aloud from it, he awakens an ancient demon that possesses Mia and unleashes hell…

et decades after Sam Raimi’s legendary 1981 horror classic The Evil Dead, director Álvarez’s version amps up the terror and ladles on the gore in this gleefully nasty continuation of the cabin in the woods chiller series, putting a woman centre stage among the deadites this time round, with Jane Levy (Don’t Breathe) fantastic as a recovering addict facing the fight of her life. The film launched Álvarez (Alien: Romulus) as a horror director of note, and breathed new life into the EVIL DEAD franchise – with a TV series Ash vs Evil Dead in 2015, EVIL DEAD RISE released in 2023, and the eagerly awaited EVIL DEAD BURN in cinemas now.

Produced by the makers of the notorious 1981 film (Raimi, Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert), EVIL DEAD was a box office hit, pulling in nearly $100 million, and is as gruesome as the original, with Entertainment Weekly saying the ‘delirious gross-out scenes… go further than any mainstream picture I can think of’. Billed as ‘the most terrifying film you will ever experience’, watching it in groovy 4K that claim is not far off the mark. It’s an absolute must for anyone who enjoys films from the comfort of behind the sofa.

EVIL DEAD is available to buy on 4K UHD Collector’s Edition from 19th October 2026 and available to pre-order HERE
