Snake Eater by T. Kingfisher review

The prolific T. Kingfisher is back with a slice of horror fantasy with the entertaining Snake Eater.

We follow Selena, who travels to mysterious small town of Quartz Creek to seek out her estranger Aunt Amelia.

Upon her arrival she finds out that Amelia has passed away, and Quartz Creek may have plenty of secrets and some involve her family.

There is a confidence in Snake Eater, as this is a story that fully commits to its mythology and it grows and gets better as the book continues.

While this is firmly in the fantasy realm, this is also a story about relationships, community and dealing with issues you may never want to confront head-first.

I wasn’t fully sure about the tone to begin with, but once you get past the initial chapters Snake Eater is an entertaining and quirky read and a must read for horror and fantasy readers.

Snake Eater by T. Kingfisher is available now in various formats from Titan Books.
