
The Argentine director and screenwriter specializing in horror, Hernán Moyano, and Paraguayan filmmaker Armando Aquino will co-direct the supernatural horror film “Confined”. Production is set to begin in the early months of 2025 and will mark the launch of a series of projects focused on the horror and thriller genres, created by experienced Latin American talent.
“Confined is a psychological horror thriller that blends elements of body horror and gothic suspense within an oppressive and unsettling setting. The screenplay is written by Hernán Moyano, with Gaspar Zaldívar and Bruno Zuccolillo serving as executive producers.
The story follows Salma, a young woman trapped in a toxic relationship and in desperate need of money, who agrees to work as a caregiver for a dying elderly man in a baroque mansion filled with secrets and supernatural phenomena.
Filming will take place in Paraguay and is expected to wrap up in the second half of 2025.
The producers are also developing several additional projects within the same genres, aiming to establish Paraguay as a hub for genre film production.
Hernán Moyano is currently in post-production on “The Red Book Ritual 2: Gates of hell”, a co-production with New Zealand and Paraguay co-directed with Hugo Cardozo, which is slated for release in 2025.
His most recent film was “The endless Road”, released in 2022, a documentary that follows the journey of renowned Guatemalan astrophotographer Sergio Montúfar Codoñer in his quest to capture the stars. The film is adapted from the fulldome version created in 2018.
