What Feasts at Night by T. Kingfisher review

T. Kingfisher is back with the sequel to 2022’s What Moves the Dead.

We follow Alex, who travels to Gallacia as a favor to his friend, but things go awry when they find the home they’re staying at empty and the caretaker dead.

They find out about a Gallacian folklore and a mystery creature that crawls on top of its victims and literally draws the life out of them.

Having said this, it does take a while to get to the meat of this short story (clocking in at around 160 pages).

Kingfisher spends a bit too much time skirting around the appealing aspects of the story, and it feels like the best parts are crammed into the final 30 pages.

A missed opportunity.

What Feasts at Night by T. Kingfisher is available now from Titan Books.
