The Ghost Station (Frightfest 2023) review

Brand new J-horror The Ghost Station comes straight from the pages of a comic.

The film shares DNA with stories such as The Grudge, as you know, not many subgenres do supernatural horror quite like the Japanese.

We follow a budding journalist who is looking at the mysterious deaths taking place at a local train station. The victims appear to be connected, but how?

While some of the scares are telegraphed the story flows quite well and The Ghost Station has a handful of surprises up its sleeve.

Centering around modern journalism is a smart choice, as we see that stories are often about the sizzle rather than the steak.

Much like The Ring, the truth behind the happenings of The Ghost Station is extremely dark and its conclusion suggests we could return to the station one more time.

The Ghost Station screens as part of Frightfest 2023.
