Here For Blood (Frightfest 2023) review

I must admit when I read the synopsis of Here For Blood, I thought this was my kind of film.

In a nutshell, we have a wrestler who babysits a girl who becomes the target of a murderous cult.

The first thing to say is that Here for Blood knows precisely what type of film it is. It’s incredibly gory, but it knows we are here for a good time – and it delivers in buckets.

When it comes to the cult, they feel more like a disjointed rock group at times, as their dysfunctional nature feels like their undoing at times.

My immediate point of reference was something like the incredibly fun Satanic Panic, but I would argue that Here for Blood leans into its bombastic humour more. On the flipside, it feels like a more hardcore Home Alone.

In the lead, the physically imposing Shawn Roberts uses his physique to really sell himself as a threat to this relentless cult.

Here for Blood is the perfect film to watch with friends of a Frightfest crowd.

Here for Blood screens as part of Frightfest 2023.
