War can do many things to a person.
I often think that once a person has been exposed to such horrors, they are never truly the same again. Their outlook on life and death surely becomes quite different, given the graphic nature of war.
In ‘Let It Kill You’ we follow a disillusioned soldier who unearths the body of someone who may have been buried with good reason.
He recounts his tale to a commanding officer, explaining a bomb strike unearthed a hidden tomb in the mountains. After befriending the mystery man things only get weirder as they started to connect.
The juxtaposition of war and horror has always been golden when done right; such as the vastly underseen Overlord.
Let It Kill You is paced well and really ratchets up at the right time, and goes hard on its more horrific elements. It features some spellbinding effects and has real production value behind it.
A must-watch war horror short with plenty of bite.
Let It Kill You screens as part of the HollyShorts Film Festival 2023.
