Happy Birthday Mess (Fantasia Fest 2023) review

While we are constantly told about the threat of far-right groups, we don’t know too much about the far-left groups, including St-Ludger-de-Milot.

Fear not, new short film, the hilariously titled Happy Birthday Mess is about to change all of that.

But what do they get up to in their downtime? Well, apparently sessions of paintballing before plotting the downfall of the 1%. The fact they plan their overhaul using Lego tells you all you need to know.

Jean-Martin Gagnon & Guillaume Harvey’s short is sprinkled with rich comedy, poking fun at both sides of the political spectrum.

Treat this more as a black comedy and you will have plenty of fun with it.

Happy Birthday Mess screens as part of Fantasia Fest 2023.
