The Breach review

A lot of the publicity around the new horror feature The Breach surrounds the soundtrack being composed by Guns n Rose legend Slash.

Based on a novel by Nick Cutter, I have to say the film is a better concept than execution.

The cold open features the remains of a body being discovered by a group of friends, after drifting down a lake in a canoe.

This body is identified as Dr Parsons, a man who has been conducting mysterious experiments after the disappearance of his daughter.

Sounds good on paper, right?

The early promise of The Breach quickly evaporates as the body horror tease fades away and the pace becomes quite laborious as a detective duo and the medical examiner get trapped in Parsons’ home.

Once things shift gear it feels like The Breach does realise its potential and the early promise is encapsulated into an exhilarating finale.

The issue is I think many viewers will have checked out by then.

The Breach is released on DVD & VOD on 10 July 2023.
