Aftertaste (Salem Horror Fest 2023) review

Urban legends from other cultures are always fascinating, with stories from Asia travelling quite well to western shores.

In Christianne Cruz’s Aftertaste, we follow an Asian female chef on what becomes the worst night of her life.

On her first day in a new job, as well as being in a bustling kitchen, we also discover during the opening voiceover that she has gift/curse from her grandmother waiting to be unleashed.

It doesn’t help that the head chef is the demon child of Gordon Ramsey either. Aftertaste has a compelling story and a rich vein of cinematography that will get under your skin.

This short will definitely make you think twice about making a complaint on your next meal out.
