When it comes to the horror genre, nothing good ever resided within a well.
We see a small child who becomes spooked by the noise of something unearthly in the well, only to back home and faces a potentially worse threat; his own much larger and hungrier brother.
After his initial encounter, he begins to have dreams/visions; could this unseen beast be a friend rather than foe?
He just can’t seem to catch a break, despite being resourceful in stealing eggs from the local farmer, the poor lad trips and smashes them on his way home.
Hunger really uses its location to its advantage, really selling the isolation and desolation surroundings with some stunning cinematography.
Despite the obvious message being, careful what you wish for, Hunger does a good job in selling this scenario given the truly hopeless situation the boy finds himself in.
Hunger does plenty despite showing very little.
