65 review

It seems like such a fantastic prospect on paper; pitting Adam Driver against a planet inhabited by dinosaurs

While Driver is as dependable as always, 65 feels like a better in concept than execution.

Driver plays Mills, one of two survivors of a spaceship crash on a mysterious planet that is crawling with dinos.

It would have been very easy to replicate the Jurassic Park model with the designs, but 65 does deserve credit for making its lizard kings and queens for reptilian and potentially closer to their real appearances 65 million years ago.

Also, the action sequences, albeit few and far between, are excellent and craft some real tensions, especially when Mills’ co-survivor Koa is put in peril.

Given its 12A rating things are played rather safe, so don’t expect any gory attacks but more a computer game level of violence.

65 feels like a throwback to the B movies of yesteryear, it’s just a shame it doesn’t wholly deliver on its premise.

65 is now screening in UK cinemas.
