Chucky – 2×01 review

When you have had such a bombastic opening season, it would be a safe bet to ease viewers back into your world – but Chucky isn’t any ordinary show.

We head straight back to where the finale of Season 1 ended and have a potentially game-changing motif play out. Whether this is everything it seems, we will just have to wait and see.

Opening on Halloween, this gives Chucky the chance for some great horror callbacks to films such as The Strangers.

Chucky of course is still gunning for Zach and co. but after tracking them down and going to the darkest place the show has been to date, we see our trio shipped off to a religious school away from Hackensack.

Mancini once infuses the script with callbacks to previous films but is also trying to break some fresh ground and take the story forward with these new characters.

Will we see more of Andy and Kyle? Only time will tell.

With the promise of Glen/Glenda later this season too and more Jennifer Tilly, the Chucky-verse is only getting bigger and promises to be the most expansive story to date.

Chucky plays on SyFy.
