Croc! (Frightfest 2022) review

The last thing you want on your wedding day is a killer crocodile chewing the guests, am I right?

This is the premise of Croc! where a bunch of middle-class people gather to celebrate the nuptials of Lisa and her husband-to-be, alas no one told them about the croc roaming the grounds of the secluded country home.

We do get hints of the chaos to come early on but do spend a lot of time with some insufferable characters, who you may be glad get devoured.

Before I go into this more, I would preface by saying our croc is CGI, and while it does work for the most part there are a couple of ropey moments. I applaud the filmmakers for persevering though, with what was clearly a limited budget.

Director Paul W. Franklin puts our group into plenty of scary scenarios although it has to be said that the amount of people who fall over and get eaten is quite ridiculous.

Croc! does have one standout sequence which feels like a homage to Alligator (1980), where all hell breaks loose just before the couple is set to tie the knot.

It’s not perfect but it will satisfy some animal attack horror fans, and prove relatively entertaining.

Croc! screens at Arrow Video Frightfest 2022.
