New ‘Strangers’ trilogy is on the way!

Unexpected but exciting news as it has been announced that a new trilogy of The Strangers is heading into production next month.

On the Boo Crew podcast, producer Roy Lee, who has been behind hits such as IT (2017) plus the Poltergeist and The Ring reboots, revealed the news on the Bloody Disgusting-fronted podcast.

“I think the next three are in production next month with another filmmaker that people will know,” Lee said.

The question remains now, who is this well-known filmmaker? Hopefully we will find out soon.

It’s now been five years since the highly entertaining The Strangers: Prey At Night, which saw the three masked killers stalk a family on a remote caravan park. While two of the three killers met their end, the man in the mask (Damian Maffei) was shown to have survived in an alternate ending to the film.

Directed by Johannes Roberts, this was a pulpy slasher which was a far cry from the nerve-shredding original from Bryan Bertino.

Will this new trilogy seek to reboot the series? Or will The Man in the Mask recruit new followers to his murderous cause in a direct follow-up to Prey at Night?

Either way, this is exciting news that shows once again that the slasher is alive and well and ready to spill more blood!
