
Imagine having to work the late shift in a call centre while finding out that you’re recently ex-partner is engaged to someone else.
This forms the crux of the wickedly funny and oddly heartfelt Operator.
Writer/Director Jonathan Hughes shows what you can do with a concept, and through the excellent performance of Lennon Clarke as Ciaran, you really get the imagination working.
Is he living through an apocalypse playing out over the phones? Only he knows for sure.
Ciaran, while being self-obsessed is quite an endearing character with his dark sense of humour and no f*cks given attitude given his recent heartbreak. It’s a real human portrayal of sadness.
Of all of the short films that have formed part of the Soho Horror Film Festival: Pride Edition, this has got to be one of the best to date.
