Arrow announces new additions for June

Arrow has announced all its brand new additions in June.

Key highlights this JUNE on the essential, alternative streaming service ARROW include two films from controversial auteur GASPER NOÉ, an hypnotic indie horror debut, six – yes SIX TRANCERS films and a pair of gory horror masterworks, classic western DJANGOLUCIO FULCIVINEGAR SYNDROME and AGFA craziness, and much more…

In June, two films from Gaspar Noé, the arch provocateur of New French Extremity. First up, he blurs the boundaries between reality and fiction in Lux Æterna, his ode to the suffering and sacrifices involved in the creation of art, starring French cinema icons Charlotte Gainsbourg (Ismael’s Ghosts, Antichrist) and Béatrice Dalle (Betty Blue, Inside) as the lead actress and the director of an experimental film about witches. A powerful, hypnotic assault on the senses like no other, it cements Noé’s position as one of the most incendiary voices in cinema today. Also showing is ENTER THE VOID, a hallucinatory meditation on life, death and rebirth, shot entirely in the first person, with Nathaniel Brown and Paz de la Huerta (The Limits of Control) as American siblings eking out a shared existence in Tokyo, struck by tragedy. Described by Noé himself as a “psychedelic melodrama”, ENTER THE VOID offers viewers an immersive cinematic experience like no other.

June sees the premiere of THE RIGHTEOUS, a brooding occult horror with echoes of Bergman and Pasolini, that insinuates its way beneath the skin by way of an intelligent script, taut direction, and strong performances. Set amongst the bleak and forbidding landscapes of Newfoundland, crisply captured in tenebrous monochrome, and featuring robust performances from all its cast members, writer and actor Mark O’Brien (Ready or Not) pulls no punches as he confronts grief, guilt, faith and atonement in his remarkable directorial debut. This sombre supernatural chiller builds to a memorable crescendo, and signals the emergence of a major new filmmaking talent.

Also in June, ARROW presents a pair of Italian cult classics –   the definitive spaghetti western, DJANGO, with Franco Nero (Keoma, The Fifth Cord) giving career-defining performance as a mysterious loner who arrives at a mud-drenched ghost town on the Mexico-US border, ominously dragging a coffin behind him. Director Sergio Corbucci (The Great Silence) upped the ante for sadism and sensationalism in westerns, depicting machine-gun massacres, mud-fighting prostitutes and savage mutilations; and Sergio Martino’s sensational serial killer slasher favourite TORSO, starring Suzy Kendall as college student in peril.

Seasons in June include The Art of Cult, a selection of carefully curated films as likely to straight up shock, surprise or delight you as it is to boggle, blow or expand your mind; The Trancers Collection, featuring all six films in the wildly entertaining sci-fi franchise; more movie madness from the vaults of Vinegar Syndrome and the AGFA Collection.

ALSO SHOWING: Lucio Fulci’s superb horror The Psychic; terror in the corridors in the 80s slasher gem Hell High, and blood on Aisle 8 in the gruesome supermarket shocker Intruder; reggae crime classic The Harder The Come, and much more…
