X Marks the Spot (short) review

Celebrating ten years of short films, Super Freak Media’s latest release is a nostalgia trip for viewers who have been watching the channel for a considerable amount of time.

X Marks the Spot has a Stranger Things vibe mixed with what feels like the opening to a classic X Files episode, as we follow a teenager drawn to the woods on his push bike by a mysterious X symbol on a tree.

What does it mean? Well you can interpret it in many different ways, with our take being a social commentary on our desires to consume as much media as we can which can create the most avid imaginations. Deep right.

X Marks the Spot also has a pulsating synth score which pays homage to the horror master John Carpenter.

Anyone who has seen previous episodes will also recognise some of the characters who make an appearance.
