Birmingham Horror Con 2018 coverage

Bham Horror Con

We had the pleasure of attending the Saturday programme of the Birmingham Horror Con being held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground.

The day included a host of workshops, Q&A panels, film screenings and cosplay, cosplay, cosplay.

Here’s our interview with Ben Heller who played Stan Uris in the 1990 version of Stephen King’s IT –

Another member of the cast of IT (1990) meeting fans was Brandon Crane who played Ben. We quizzed Brandon about the role –

The final cast members from IT (1990) we chatted to were Jarred Blancard who played Henry Bowers and Marlon Taylor who played Mike, who chatted about their scenes together, the legacy of the film and bullying –

We also chatted briefly to A Nightmare on Elm Street parts 4 & 5 star Danny Hassel who played Dan –

Also at the convention was a fascinating panel with former criminal profiler Paul Harrison, who’s story was adapted into last year’s Netflix smash Mindhunter. Harrison discussed interviewing John Wayne Gacy, Aileen Wuornos and the Yorkshire Ripper amongst others.

Bella in the Wych Elm screening

We also got the opportunity to check out a screening of stylish short Bella in the Wych Elm.

Told in an old showreel style with a voice-over it recounts the story of a body found in the middle of a tree out in woodland in the Midlands. From here it becomes a mystery about who the person was, where they came from and who did this crime.

‘Bella……’ plays like a visual storybook as each revelation adds another layer to the story before a truly haunting conclusion. Certainly one to look out for.
