Horror thriller Wild Swimmers has released a brand new trailer ahead of mini UK tour of screenings in March and April 2026.
When wild swimmers begin vanishing without trace, journalism student Deji decides to investigate. But the further downstream she goes, the more the old stories resurface – and when the river turns red, it’s time to start swimming.
With hints of Seven, Zodiac and Jaws, Wild Swimmers is the unique vampire thriller from writer-director Ric Rawlins starring Hong Kong’s Valerie Kwok.
The film is touring UK cinemas with a director’s Q&A at the following dates:
18 MARCH – Create Studios, Swindon
26 MARCH – Phoenix, Exeter
28 MARCH – Strand Centre, Dawlish
3 APRIL – The Cinema Museum, London
The lead character of Deji came about through a deep collaboration with lead actor Valerie Kwok and her experiences growing up in Hong Kong. “The character of Deji definitely has Lion Rock Spirit, a fierce, unyielding resilience that we inherit as Hong Kongers,” says Kwok. “I’m glad I can connect to it through her.”
“Making an original vampire film is a challenge,” says Rawlins, “but shooting on the river was like passing into another realm. The genre is transformed by it.”
Produced independently in South West England with a community focus to enable newcomers to take their first steps into the industry, Wild Swimmers captures both the poetry of the river and the thrill of the chase. It lands on Prime on 31 March.
