Genre thriller The Last Anniversary set to debut at Dunedin International Film Festival

From the dark and fearless creative minds of veteran Canadian genre filmmakers Brett Butler and Jason Butler, collectively known as The Butler Brothers, the slow-burn horror thriller THE LAST ANNIVERSARY will make its Florida Premiere at the 8th Annual Dunedin International Film Festival.

The Florida Premiere will take place on Friday, 23 January at 7:45 PM, screening at HOB Brewing Company as part of the festival’s official lineup.

Known for championing daring storytelling and distinctive filmmaker voices, the Dunedin International Film Festival continues to establish itself as a vital platform for independent and genre-defying work. This year’s festival brings together filmmakers and audiences in the vibrant Gulf Coast arts community of Dunedin, celebrating films that push boundaries while fostering meaningful dialogue between creators and viewers.

Starring Ry Barrett (In a Violent Nature), THE LAST ANNIVERSARY is a tense, atmospheric horror thriller that unfolds on the eve of the apocalypse. Tom and Aubrey return to the abandoned hotel where they were married ten years earlier, inviting their original wedding party to join them for one final night of celebration. But beneath the surface of nostalgia and revelry lies a darker purpose: confronting the group about the mysterious disappearance of their Maid of Honor on that long-ago wedding night.

With their signature blend of psychological tension, genre subversion, and emotional unease, The Butler Brothers continue their tradition of crafting films that are as provocative as they are visceral—stories that linger long after the credits roll.

The 8th Annual Dunedin International Film Festival runs this year in Dunedin, Florida, presenting a carefully curated lineup of independent features, documentaries, and shorts from around the world.
