Before you set out to see the latest instalment of the Anaconda franchise in cinemas this festive season, it’s worth taking a trip back to the film that made giant snakes iconic in the first place!
The 1997 original Anaconda creature feature is available to Buy or Rent to watch at home now and stars Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube and Owen Wilson who deliver the perfect mix of adventure, tension, and ‘90s charm – making the upcoming chapter even more fun!
Cult horror classic Anaconda (1997) follows a documentary film crew led by anthropologist Dr. Steven Cale (Eric Stoltz) and director Terri Flores (Lopez) as they enter the mysterious world of the Amazon in search of the legendary Shirishama Indians. Cameraman Danny (Ice Cube) smells trouble when the crew picks up a suspicious passenger – Paul Serone (Jon Voight), a charismatic loner and “river man” whose professed knowledge of the Shirishama entices the crew. But Serone’s motive for driving the crew deeper into the river is his own dark quest to track a lethal 40-foot anaconda, and he’ll sacrifice anything and anyone to find his adversary. The expedition becomes a jungle nightmare when Serone leads the crew directly into the jaws of the killer snake and they must use every primal resource just to stay alive.
From 26th December, the freshest addition to the Anaconda franchise stars Jack Black and Paul Rudd as best friends who seek to recapture their youth and travel to the Amazon to film a remake of this 1997 classic.
