It’s often considered Dario Argento’s forgotten classic, but Four Flies on Gret Velvet is now getting its due alongside other hits like Suspiria, Tenebrae and The Cat O’ Nine Tails.
Presented in glorious 4K by Shameless Films, this is without doubt the best the film has ever looked.
Celebrated rock musician Roberto Tobias (Michael Brandon) is thrust into a nightmare. Framed for a brutal stabbing, he soon finds himself ensnared in a web of senseless murders. The only clue to the deranged killer lies in a cryptic image captured on a victim’s retina. Roberto’s desperate search for truth will push him to the brink of madness, culminating in a shocking climax.
The film is taken onto another level by a fantastic score by the legendary Ennio Mirricone, which coupled with Argento’s eye for violence makes this a Giallo masterpiece.
The package itself contains new interviews with Argento plus star Michael Brandon plus an archival interview with AD Luizi Cozzi. We also have a new booklet from Argento expert Alan Jones and new art cards and a poster for the physical media collectors.
If, for whatever reason, you have slept on Four Flies on Grey Velvet, this is the perfect opportunity to see a master of horror at work.
Four Flies on Grey Velvet is out on separate 4K UHD and Blu-ray releases on 28 April from Shameless Films.
