I can safely say that I’ve never read anything quite as bizarre as I Can Count to Ten by Roman Dirge.
You think on the surface that this is a children’s book, but quickly you will discover it is like Lemmings crossed with a science fiction horror.
In fairness to Dirge he does point this out within the first page in bold letters.
It appears like a simple counting game with the tiny boofles, which seem like cute pink blobs who just want to get along; this is until chaos descends on their little plan.
I Can Count to Ten quickly descends into a hilarious bloodbath, which is made all the funnier by the running commentary from the boofles.
Dirge deals in escalation, and just when you think it can’t get any more bonkers, well, it does and its glorious.
If you’re looking for something gory and funny, this is the book for you.
I Can Count to Ten by Roman Dirge is available now from Titan Comics.
