KillHer (Grimmfest 2024) review

By Jason Kerr

KILLHER is a twisted tale of covetousness and bloody mayhem against the backdrop of the great outdoors. However, it can also be argued that too much fresh air can be a perilous venture.

Mattie is about to get married to Jagger; the overbearing Eddie has organised a camping trip/bachelorette party in the woods. Joined by the reluctant Rae and Jess our four ‘friends’ set off on their adventure. We learn that Jagger is also in the area camping and we also learn of the unpleasantness that attaches itself to Jagger such as the brutal slayings of his mom, his dad and his ex-girlfriend. He was a suspect in the murders but the murderer proved to be still at large.

The back-to-basics trip is not received well by all of the girls who eventually set up camp and begin to annoy the shit out of Mr Rodgers the local outdoor, camping, bushcraft expert armed with a gun and a growl. His offers of safety advice in the natural surroundings are met with disrespect and derision.

It becomes evident that Eddie and Jagger were having an affair. Eddie struggles to accept that Jagger is still in love with Mattie and takes matters into her own bloody hands.

The bachelorette group are annoying and the kills cannot come quick enough. Eddie proves to be a deft sicko, a modern masked Michaela Myers with corny kill commentary. As the body count is racking up and the Polaroids are increasing for her horror portfolio

With the wedding definitely off Mattie’s devastation turns to revenge, backed by her ‘friends’ and the nature boy himself Mr Rodgers the battle of blood is about to commence.
