Devotee (HollyShorts 2024) review

While many think that the days of cults are long gone, it’s sad that they are more prevalent than ever.

Just look at one of the Presidential candidates for the U.S. election…

With easier access to people all over the world through the internet and social media, radicalisation can be spread much quicker and faster.

In Devotee, we follow a young boy who finds out his mother’s dark secret, during a late-night browsing session.

Richard J. Bosner’s short isn’t messing around, setting a nihilistic and sinister tone from the outset, showing us there is definitely something to fear here.

When hope is lost, people can be led to do unspeakable things, and Devotee feels like a preview of this, indoctrination.

Devotee builds to a crescendo that will shock viewers. Powerful stuff.

Devotee screened as part of HollyShorts 2024.
