Not Today review

Never underestimate the opportunist nature of a catty drag queen, especially one in mourning.

In Ayesha Sheikh‘s horror comedy short Not Today, we follow two queens mourning the loss of their drag mother, when they stumble upon a mysterious VHS tape and hijinks ensue.

Right from the off it’s clear that the two queens would sell their own mothers for a slice of success, no matter how small.

With a nod to J-horror, Not Today is more of a campy and fun affair rather than downright horror, which isn’t to say this isn’t highly entertaining. You may think you know where the story is going, but, Sheikh has a surprise up their sleeve…

Fans of Dragula and Ru Paul’s Drag Race will definitely approve.

Not Today screened as part of Sohome Horror Pride 2024.
