NYX UK presents nine horrific channel premieres in August, headed up by FrightFest classics THE LAST HORROR MOVIE (Fri 9th Aug, 9pm) and SUMMER SCARS (Tues 20th Aug, 9pm).
Both disturbing psychological horrors are directed by Julian Richards and star Kevin Howarth in two of his most memorable roles. NYZ UK also premieres DARKLANDS (Thurs 13th Aug, 9pm), another British horror film directed by Julian Richards, which delves into the world of ancient pagan rituals and modern-day conspiracies and stars Craig Fairbrass.
Other 9pm primetime channel premieres include THE GREYWOOD PLOT (2021) an inventive horror-comedy film directed by Josh Stifter (Fri 2nd Aug), the atmospheric, twisty INNER DEMON (2014), written and directed by Australian Ursula Dabrowsky (Thurs 8th Aug), HELL HOUSE LLC (2015), an American found footage horror film written and directed by Stephen Cognetti (Thurs 16th Aug) and PIN (1988), a Canadian psychological chiller which offers a daring exploration of a very unconventional family, directed by Sandor Stern.
Then on Thurs 22nd Aug and Frid 23rd Aug at 9pm the channel premieres Parts 1 & 2 of CRYSTAL LAKE MEMORIES: THE COMPLETE HISTORY OF FRIDAY 13TH (2013) – an exhaustive documentary that delves deep into the history and impact of the “Friday the 13th” franchise, one of the most enduring and influential horror series in cinema history.
On Tuesday 6th August, the channel celebrates the birthday of Italian genre master Umberto Lenzi with a double-bill of his most challenging films. At 9pm there is a rare opportunity to see MAN FROM A DEEP RIVER (1972), a film that marked the cinematic beginnings of the cannibal genre, and then at 11pm is NIGHTMARE CITY, which remains a beloved piece of zombie cinema for its daring approach and its influence on the evolution of the genre.
