What I Remember review

People meeting sometimes is considered fate, as they may go on to do something significant together such as start a family or in horror terms, maybe something sinister.

Alex Hera’s short brings two lost souls together, Sam, is a lonely troublemaker and Ryan, records his life through the lens.

We open with Sam telling Ryan’s story, with the rest of the story pieced together from his own previous footage.

Their relationship blossoms and it all feels very lighthearted, although Ryan’s backstory remains quite vague.

There is a gut punch to this short, making its horror roots a bit more vivid than saying anything supernatural or in the slasher realm.

This feels like the first part of a wider story and I’d be keen to see it expanded with sequels or some kind of feature idea.

What I Remember recently screened at Unnamed Footage Festival 2024.
