You can hear the neon sign buzz as Director Daniel Carsenty with a script by Corey Slater have fashioned a finely honed piece of late-night highway horror with the adaptation of the Stephen King short story One for the Road.
The simple parable of two truckers Booth (Alexander Flores) and the earthy sarcastic Tooke (Travis Hammer) who help Gale (Katie Elder) waitress deal with a mysterious customer who shuffles into a lonely roadside Diner one night.
The idealistic Booth wants to help Gail, so the pair engage the stranger in conversation getting little but stares, smiles, and a location.
The horror emerges after the two truckers drive the old beat-up man to the roadside where his car is stranded. Arterial spray and tension ratchet up with the aid of a fine musical score revealing that things can suck the life out of you.
One For The Road screens as part of Panic Fest 2024.
