UK release confirmed for sci-fi horror Brightwood

Sci-fi horror Brightwood is set for a UK release on digital platforms on 21 March 2024.

At times both surreal and frightening, Brightwood is an American indie sci-fi/horror that follows a couple trapped in a mysterious and dangerous time loop where even open spaces can create an atmosphere of claustrophobia.

Their marriage on the rocks, Jen (Dana Berger, Orange Is The New BlackElementary) and Dan (Max Woertendyke, Succession) are seriously considering splitting up.  As they jog around a parkland pond in the hope of hashing things out, they find themselves running in endless circles with an exit trail that’s completely vanished. Being stuck together in a never-ending loop is bad enough, but when a silent hooded figure mysteriously appears and starts stalking them, the couple must figure out how to survive – together or apart.

Brightwood is the debut feature for director Dane Elcar who is also the screenwriter and cinematographer. It received its world premiere at UK’s Cine-Excess International Film Festival in Birmingham and following its successful US releaseit is now being made available in the UK, Ireland, and Australia.

Winner of best editing award at Horrorhound Film Festival and gaining a Film Threat Best Indie Film nomination, Brightwood is a smart, twisted and wickedly funny film about the true horrors that can literally eat away at relationships.
