The sequel to the juggernaut success, Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey, is on its way and Winnie baying for blood.
Winnie has brought Piglet, Tigger and Owl along for more backwoods carnage plus a return for Christopher Robin with the newly cast Scott Chambers.
Actor/Producer caught up with Bloody Flicks, to spill the beans about Winnie’s grand return.
When did you decide on a sequel for Blood and Honey?
We knew as soon as the first one went viral we were likely to do it.
What is the reason for you taking on the role of Christopher Robin from Nikolai Leon?
Nikolai didn’t want to return for another one. It also worked out quite well because of the direction Rhys wanted to take the movie. You will see in the movie the reason. The recasting and new look of Pooh and the gang are all explained in one simple moment.
The first film received so much publicity before its release, but did its success still surprise you?
Yes! I always knew it could be a bit of a clickbait movie, but NEVER to the level it got to. It was incredibly shocking. A small 20k movie that was shot in 6 days…crazy!
If Blood and Honey is the table setter, how does the sequel push the envelope?
The gore is on another level, there are over 50 deaths, there are incredible prosthetics for the monsters this time allowing the actors to really perform. Last time we had a mask of course, but this time its on a whole other level. The story is also really something Rhys focuses on. It has a heart to it.. and mystery!
What lessons were learnt from the first film’s shoot that were taken into the sequel?
Well, the first vs. second are just completely different situations. The first was a handful of people making a movie for fun in 6 days. The sequel was a proper team getting together knowing that this was something with a fan base. So, naturally, just everything changes. The budget opened a lot of doors to improve on a lot of areas.
What can we expect with the introduction of Tigger and Owl?
I think you can expect some real violent deaths from Tigger – he is nasty!! Owl is the wise owl we expect, but also very fun at times.
How is planning coming for your Bambi horror film?
We already shot it in January just gone! It went really well and I think our director Dan Allen has created something terrifying.
When can we expect to see Blood and Honey 2?
It is hitting US cinemas this year with an announcement from Fathom coming end of February.
Look out for more news on Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 soon.
