It’s quite hard to encapsulate the lift and career of someone like Quentin Tarantino, so why not let a version of him tell the story.
From his humble beginnings and days working in a videostore, Tarantino has always been a fascinating character to follow even if you don’t like all of his output.
What Ameziane does here is tell Quentin’s story, but very much in his own tone.
It’s slightly chaotic, full of interesting anecdotes, such as wanting to hire Bill Lustig to direct True Romance before Tony Scott got the gig, to his close relationship with Samuel L. Jackson throughout his career.
What rally comes through in Quentin by Tarantino is the director’s passion for cinema, whether it be blockbusters like Jaws, or the Grindhouse exploitation you would see plastered across 42nd Street in the 1980s.
Tarantino is a student of cinema, and even if like me you don’t always get his films, you can’t deny how important his voice is to the history of cinema.
This is a must read for fans and even non-fans will find something to love here.
Quentin by Tarantino by Amazing Ameziane is available now from Titan Comics.
