Brandy returning to horror with Susan Hill adaptation

Great news for horror fans for 2024, as Brandy Norwood is set to return to the genre for the first time in over 25 years.

Brandy will lead the cast of Max and Sam Eggers’ feature The Front Room, an adaptation of the work of Susan Hill (The Woman in Black).

The Front Rooms tells the story of a young, newly pregnant couple who is forced to take in an ailing, estranged stepmother.

The singer/turned actor stole the show in the 1998 slasher sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, starring alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt against the killer fisherman Ben Willis, this time in the Bahamas.

The Front Room features in Hill’s anthology The Travelling Bag: And Other Ghostly Stories, with three other stories including The Travelling Bag and Alice Baker.

The Eggers Brothers will direct from their own script, with A24 producing alongside Lucan Toh, Babak Anvari and Bryan Sonderman of Two & Two Pictures, and Julia Oh and David Hinojosa of 2AM. Max Eggers previously co-wrote the script for his brother Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse, with Sam Eggers co-writing the Olympia Dukakis doc Olympia.

Let’s hope this is the start of a series of horror films featuring Brandy in 2024 and beyond.
