Bulldog Film Distribution has announced the release of ghost buddy comedy The Civil Dead in select cinemas and on-demand on 19 January 2024.
Clay is a loner photographer who enjoys a mundane life with his artist wife Whitney in Los Angeles. After Whitney advises Clay, who has been creatively stagnant and unemployed for months, to go out and be productive while she’s out of town and not to “just lay in the living room and drink beer”, Clay happens upon his long-lost friend, Whit. After a night of catching up, Whit discloses an unsettling secret to Clay, which puts a strain on his marriage and causes him to question his own sanity…
Directed by and starring Clay Tatum with co-writer and star Whitmer Thomas (Glow), The Civil Dead is a hilariously offbeat lo-fi slacker take on the ghost story which won the Audience Award and was nominated for Best Narrative Feature at the prestigious Slamdance Film Festival and had its UK Premiere at Glasgow Film Festival 2023.
