Police patrolling roads in the middle of nowhere in the dead of night can’t be a good thing.
Immediately something feels off, as the boot and one of the doors are open, with one officer remaining in the car and the other looking to fix their flat tyre.
When a disorientated woman appears from the woodlands, the officers attempt to speak to her but she quickly brandishes a knife as they attempt to get close.
Stop Dead ratched’s up the tension and some genuinely chilling imagery. The conclusion does feel quite abrupt, but this feels deliberate on the filmmaker’s part as not every story is tied in a nice bow at the end.
Beautifully filmed and with some effective scares, Emily Greenwood’s short is another winner.
